In short: Rentamo connects renters with vehicle owners. The rental itself is between the renter and the owner. In the app you pay a downpayment and a booking fee; the balance, the deposit and any late or damage charges are paid directly between you and the owner. Rentamo does not own the vehicles and does not insure them. If you can't agree with the other person about a rental, we will review the records and give our view.
1. About these terms
Rentamo is an app operated by PABSOFT ("Rentamo", "we", "us"). These terms are the agreement between you and Rentamo for using the app and this website. "Owner" means anyone who lists a vehicle, whether a private person or a rental business; "renter" means anyone who books one.
By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle your personal information. If you don't agree, don't use Rentamo.
2. What Rentamo does
Rentamo is a marketplace, not a rental company. We provide the app in which owners list vehicles and renters book them, take the in-app payment, keep the booking records, carry the messages between you, check renters' and owners' identity, review vehicles before they are listed, and help when a rental goes wrong.
We don't own, operate or hand over the vehicles. Owners are independent: they are not our employees or agents, and they decide whether to accept a booking. We don't guarantee that a listed vehicle is available until its owner has confirmed the booking.
3. Which terms govern a rental
Each rental is a contract between the renter and the owner. It is made up of:
- The rental agreement shown in the app, which the renter accepts before booking. The booking keeps a record of when it was accepted.
- The listing's terms at the time of booking: the price, rental option, add-ons, security deposit, grace period and late fee, and any delivery fee. An owner who changes a listing later doesn't change a booking already made.
- The owner's own written agreement, if the owner asks you to sign one at pickup.
If an owner asks you to sign their own agreement, read it before you take the vehicle. It can add rental details, such as the plate number and release time, but it should not charge more or set stricter terms than the listing and booking showed you. If it does, don't sign: tell the owner, and contact us through the app.
These terms govern your use of Rentamo. They don't make Rentamo a party to the rental contract.
4. Accounts and verification
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date. One account per person; don't use someone else's.
- Keep your sign-in codes and PIN to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- Renters verify their identity and driving licence before their first rental. A booking made before the check is complete is held until it is decided.
- Owners verify their identity before listing, and each vehicle is reviewed before it goes live.
- We may refuse a verification that we can't confirm, and tell you why.
5. Booking and payment
- The listing shows the terms: price per day or hour, rental options and add-ons, security deposit, grace period and late fee, available dates and pickup point.
- Delivery. If you ask for the vehicle to be brought to another place, the delivery fee is worked out from the distance and shown before you book.
- In the app you pay a downpayment and a booking fee, through Google Play or the App Store. These are the only payments Rentamo collects. Store purchases are also subject to Google's or Apple's terms.
- The owner confirms or declines. Your booking is confirmed only when the owner accepts it.
- The rest is paid to the owner, not to us: the balance of the rental, the security deposit, and any late fee or damage charge. You and the owner agree how (for example cash or GCash). Owners usually ask for the balance and deposit at pickup, before the vehicle is released. The app records these payments; it doesn't process them, and Rentamo isn't responsible for money paid outside the app.
- Your receipt in the app shows what was paid in the app and what was paid to the owner.
6. Changes and extensions
To move or extend a booking, ask in the app before the rental ends. The owner decides. If they agree, the new price follows the listing's rate and any difference is settled with the owner; the amount paid in the app doesn't change. Keeping a vehicle past its return time without the owner's agreement is a late return (section 9).
7. Cancellations and refunds
- If the owner declines or cancels, you get back everything you paid in the app.
- If you cancel, the refund depends on how long before pickup you cancel. The app shows the exact amount before you confirm. A full refund returns everything paid in the app. A partial refund returns that share of the downpayment less a flat cancellation fee, and the booking fee is not refunded.
- Refunds are processed by Rentamo, through Google Play or the App Store where possible, or otherwise by transfer to the GCash or bank account you give us. The booking shows when the refund was made.
- Money you paid the owner directly (balance, deposit) is returned by the owner. The deposit comes back when the vehicle is returned, less only an unpaid late fee or a damage amount you accepted or that was decided under section 10.
8. During the rental
Pickup and return
At pickup, renter and owner check the vehicle together and take photos in the app. They do the same at return. These photos are the record if there is a disagreement later, so please take them.
Renters agree to
- hold a valid driver's licence for the type of vehicle, and carry it while driving
- obey traffic laws, wear a helmet on two wheels, and not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- be the only driver, unless the owner agrees otherwise
- not sublet or lend the vehicle, not use it to carry passengers or goods for pay, and not take it off the island, unless the owner agrees
- pay for fuel used and return the vehicle with the fuel level it had at pickup, unless the listing says otherwise
- pay traffic and parking fines incurred during the rental
- return the vehicle and its accessories (such as the helmet) on time and in the condition received, apart from normal wear
If a renter seriously breaks these rules or the rental agreement, the owner may end the rental early and ask for the vehicle back.
9. Late returns
Within the listing's grace period there is no charge. After it, the owner may charge the listing's hourly late fee for each started hour after the scheduled return time. For each 24 hours late, the fee is never more than one day of the rental at the booked rate. The app tells both of you when a rental is overdue and works out the fee. The owner can waive it.
10. Damage, loss, theft and accidents
- Tell the owner straight away about a breakdown, accident, damage or theft, and report it to the police where the law requires. Don't arrange repairs without the owner's agreement.
- The renter is responsible for damage to, or loss or theft of, the vehicle and its accessories during the rental, except normal wear, and as the rental agreement and the law provide.
- If the vehicle comes back damaged, the owner records it in the app with photos and an amount, supported by a repair estimate or receipt where possible. The renter can accept or dispute it.
- If you can't agree, either of you can ask us to review the photos and records. A person at Rentamo will look at them and give a decision in good faith. We are not a court or an insurer: our decision doesn't stop either of you from going to the authorities or the courts, and the payment itself is between renter and owner.
11. Insurance
Rentamo does not provide insurance for vehicles, drivers, passengers or third parties. Ask the owner what cover the vehicle has before you ride.
12. Owners
- You must own the vehicle or have the right to rent it out. It must be registered, roadworthy and covered by the insurance the law requires.
- Your listing must be accurate: photos, condition, price, deposit, late fee and any other terms. We may refuse or remove a listing.
- Honour the bookings you accept, on the listing's terms at the time of booking.
- If you ask renters to sign your own agreement, its charges and conditions must not go beyond what your listing and the booking showed. Give the renter a copy.
- Any deposit deduction must be limited to an unpaid late fee or a damage amount that was accepted or decided in the app, and the rest returned at the end of the rental.
- Use renters' information, including any ID you see or copy, only for the rental. You are responsible for personal information you collect yourself, under the Data Privacy Act (see the Privacy policy).
- Rentamo charges owners a commission on each rental. The rate is shown in the app and on your statements. You are responsible for your own taxes and permits.
- You decide whom you rent to, but you may not refuse a renter on the basis of race, religion, sex, disability or other grounds protected by law.
13. Your content and conduct
You keep ownership of the photos, listings, messages and reviews you post. You give us a licence to store and display them to run Rentamo and to promote listings.
Don't post anything false, unlawful or abusive, or anything that infringes someone else's rights. Don't use Rentamo to arrange a rental or payment around the app to avoid fees, or to harass, defraud or spam anyone. The Rentamo name, logo and app belong to us; don't copy them without permission. We may remove content that breaks these rules. Report a problem through Profile → Help & Support.
14. Ads and rewards
The app shows ads from third parties. Rewards and referral credits have no cash value unless the app says otherwise, can't be transferred, and may be withdrawn if they were earned by abuse.
15. Liability
We work to keep Rentamo running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. Listings and vehicles are the owners' responsibility, and the rental is between renter and owner.
To the extent the law allows, Rentamo is not liable for accidents, injury, loss, damage, theft or disputes arising from a rental, or for what renters and owners do. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you paid in the app for the booking concerned.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for our own fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or anything else that cannot be limited under Philippine law, and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer.
16. Suspending or ending an account
You can delete your account at any time (see Delete your account). Finish or cancel active bookings first.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, gives false information or puts other users at risk. We will tell you why unless the law or someone's safety prevents it, and you can ask us to look at the decision again. Payments owed, liability and disputes about past rentals continue after an account ends.
17. Complaints and disputes
- About a rental: use the dispute steps in the app first (section 10).
- About Rentamo: contact us (section 19) so we can try to resolve it.
- You can also take a complaint to the Department of Trade and Industry, or, about your personal information, to the National Privacy Commission.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines, and the courts of the Philippines have jurisdiction.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the version and date at the top, and tell you in the app before a material change takes effect. Bookings already confirmed keep the terms they were made under.
